Cristian’s graduation and prom

Left behind, way behind are the times that I used to worry for Cristian’s education. Those times on second and third grade that his mild case of ADD used to show. Every time the teacher called me I was afraid of what she was going to say to me. Afraid that she would tell me that it was better for Cristian to be on another school with less children on each classroom. Fears that never came true, Even when I had to struggle with him on third grade for him to finish his work. He could do it and he did. Every day he did improve until he was completely alone in the fifth grade.He didnt needed my help anymore and until this day it has been this way. He got through middle school with excellent grades and most times on the Honor Roll. Alone. When I tried to help he would tell me not to worry that he was responsible. He has many talents and many ideas of what he would like to do in the future. He has his head full of things.Now he knows that to do all this things from now on he has to work hard. He always says that he wants to study in the states and I know he is going to do it.

Last night was Cristian’s prom. Eight grade prom is very different from high school prom at school. This one is not so formal and it is at the school gym. First let me tell you that Cristian is not the party, social kind. He is more lay back , stay at home at the computer. In PR this events are family event were parents go. Of course they have their area far from the children’s.The gym was decorated with a nautical theme which I loved BTW. Cristian had a great time hanging around with his friends. No dancing on Cristian’s part but they had a good time.

Tonight is Eduardo’s prom Soon im going to take Vivi to the beauty. She is very excited just like last year.She is going to be beautiful. They make a stunning couple at least that is what everyone at school is saying.My co worker is coming to pick her up. Eduardo is staying at the hotel. More on that later and pics too. My co worker just came to pick up Vivi.I wonder what Eduardo is going to think when he sees her.

This week

This week is going to be more interesting with 3 mayor events going on. Tomorrow is Cristian’s graduation at 9:00 am. My parents are coming and its been some time that I don’t see them.With Viviana’s work and the price of gasoline is getting more difficult for me to go to Mayaguez for the weekend. Thursday is Cristian’s prom. Eight grade prom is much more simpler than the other.Its a party at the school gym but as the other prom is also a family affair. On Friday is Vivi’s ( Eduardo’s really) prom. In the meantime im working. Today is free but tomorrow I had to ask for permission to attend, letter and all.On Friday we end officially the school year working only until 12:00. That’s good because I have to take Vivi to the Beauty. Monday we start the summer session and all the month of June Ill be working until 12:30. Im happy because they didnt put me to give summer school. So Ill be doing some office work. I missed Bob and Emily ( John’s bloggers and evil krewe members) yesterday. They were in PR to take the Destiny. They were going to call me when they were going to the pier to meet me there. They called but I didnt get it.Never rings. I got a voice message at 3:30 but could hear it until 6:00. I keep getting a message that I couldnt do it at this time. argh! I was mad! Next time Im going to give them all the phones of this family( all different carriers) I hope next time Ill get to meet them.Thats strike 3. So no more.

Worriers anonymous

It sometimes amazes me how John and I seem to be connected.This days I have been thinking about how much damage Im doing to myself being a worrier.I have been thinking about ways to release all this stress i been carrying around.It just that everything worries me.Things that may never happen.Sometimes stupid things that nobody cares about. For me those are big things and maybe thats why things like the eye are happening to me.Yesterday parents were coming to pick up grades. Everything was ok until the father of the boy who’s mother is suing the school came to pick up the report card. I gave him the envelope and I thought he was gone. Wrong ! he came back and he handed me a letter where he was asking for and individual report of all the grades given to the boy in all my classes in the last trimester. He would be waiting for them outside………. Imagine how I felt. I knew I was going to be involve in all these but up to where?? I left the report card with my aide and had to go to the office to pick up my pen drive with all the grades.Came back up to the library and it didnt want to open. I went to the faculty and it was the same. I had to go back to the office i told the secretary what I needed. I wish you could have seen her face. She just told me that she couldnt believe it. She gave me the copies. I went back up to give them to the father.I was very nervous and angry. Imagine how I was. Everyone was furious, all of them saw what was happening we where all at the library. After that i gave all the test the kid had taken during the year with me to the coordinator. AHH!! because you dont know that things have been disappearing around the school. On Monday the school receive the letter from the lawyer about the lawsuit. She is doing it. After work yesterday a bunch of us went to Fuddruckers to talk and we had a great time. We needed that.I hope we can do it more often. Tuesday is Cristian’s graduation.

Boring, even the eye

Im am not writting as often as I used to because there is nothing new to report. My life is not very interesting right now. Same things, day in and day out. Did nothing on my birthday but all the birthday wishes and cards made my day. Thanks!! At school, thing are taking shape. The problem teacher was moved from first and second grade to the middle school (5 and 6). The teacher from middle school was moved to the elementary ( literally kicking and screaming, poor girl). All the english teachers are getting a change after years working in the same grade because of this problem.
Not fair for them but……thats the way things are. Now we have to wait for the parents reaction to this changes.I know its going to be bad.There are teachers working in grades they shouldnt be.But that is going to be the another story.Now the eye.Ahhhh the eye.Yesterday I went to the retinologist. I have a lession in both eyes( he gave them a name in spanish but I dont know the name in english and I dont want to write somethin it isnt and alarm you) One of them I see.The thing is that they are not able to tell me anything yet because they dont know were this come from. This things appear on people with conditions like, diabetes, high blood pressure,high colesterol.I dont have any of these. I had my last labs taken less than 2 months ago and he saw them. Nothing there. Now I have to get and angiography on June 3. I dont like to wait . I like answers. Afraid? A little no a lot…. prayers are welcome.
P.S.Also boring is the prince part. Nothing happening here.I think he doesnt want to get involved because he is going away.She knows that.Next she is going to his graduation and the prom is on May 30.

Update – Just talked with my best friend she is a doctor and her husband is an internist.She  wants do more test something about an ANA test ( a collagen test) just in case.She says that it may be stress also. Me????? Stressed noooooooo LOL I hope is that.

This are just a few of the pictures taken last night at the “get”.This are some of good ones. The rest are in an album in facebook its Vivi’s but I think you can see them from my profile.Interesting pictures….. not to say weird. You have to see the details, the faces, the background they can almost talk. My daughter ’s group of friends…. what I can say in their defense? They didnt drink even if they look like they did. LOL But at least I can say they have a good time.I just popped from time to time not to bother them.I was checking that they had enough to drink or eat. It was a surprise for me to learn that they are cheap to have at home. They only eat the brownies that I made.They hardly touched the dips. Half a bag of Doritos, half bag of potato chips and only 1 bottle of Pepsi!!!!!!! I have to invite them more often. They keep coming and at one time there were so many people of my family room that I started to worry. My living room( much larger) had the air conditioner on but was empty. What can I do? I tried for them to move but they prefer to be on the family. ok…….I went to sleep. In the pictures you can see Cristian that went to the garage to play with his guitar trying to get their attention look at the plastic cup in front of him.Hey!! the prince came he is the one in blue beside Vivi. Vivi is still asleep so I dont know many details. I think they had a great time. I hope they come back. They usually just go out.They dont like to stay maybe is because I dont have a billliard table or a pool. Now they know the can have a good time here anyway.

A spot in the eye

Just what I needed now I have a spot int the eye, like a shadow. Its small and I see everything but its there.It appeared suddenly yesterday afternoon while I was cooking. I thought it was going to go away with some eye drops and rest but it didnt. So today after everyone scaring me I contacted one of the moms at school whose husband is an optometrist that works at an very good eye clinic and she got me an appointment with her husband first and if necessary he would referred me to one of the oftalmologist or retinologist on the clinic.I left school early and went to the clinic.He was very kind and didn’t charge me a dollar. He first checked me and yes there is a spot. He told me something about a liquid behind the eye but he wanted a second opinion.He took me to the oftalmologist . He also told me about the spot but he didnt know why it was there. He told me everything was ok. He asked if I had any medical condition. I dont at least none that I know of.I have my last labs taken less than 2 months ago and there is nothing new there.  I havent taken them to do the doctor yet.He wants me to go to a retinologist on Tuesday. Yesterday it was the last day of the children. My mission with this group is done.The problem at school is taking a toll in all of us It is so different at school now that we still cant believe how much we have change. It’s incredible how a faculty room that once was the talk because we were having a great time there and not working now Its deserted. Only 3 people on that room. all the other in the library or in groups in other classrooms.What happened to us? Why are we letting 3 people do all this harm.The direction is doing nothing. He already told us. Nothing is going to get done. The english teacher is not going to stay if nothing is done.She can continue like this.Too much harm done. More than a month to go with all this.Tonight is the “get’ and it brought the first misunderstanding with the “prince” LOL. Nothing important but was eye opening. It seems he is not that perfect but nobody is. I will tell you about the get later maybe I can get some pics.

a Get??

Im having a “get” Saturday night at my house. At first I asked what is a get? Short for get together duh. Vivi is having one for some of her friends. It’s been a long time that we haven’t have any visits to this house.Vivi always goes out. Cristian is not a people’s person. Only has a few friends.He is happy with his computer and TV. Also we had avoided invitations because that means spending money and we are trying to spend just the necessary. I also have neglected the house a lot, its true.But now things are changing with the appearance of Prince Charming.Last time at Ben’s and Jerry’s they talk about going to a salsa club in Old San Juan to practice their dancing before the prom.it was supposed to be this weekend but last night after getting her schedule at work she called the prince.The prince told her that he would go if she wanted but that he preferred for this weekend to have a “get” at a house with some friends or alone just to talk and get to know each other better because ( I didn’t told you that until last week he had a cast on his leg) his leg isn’t completely well yet. So thats why Im going to have a bunch of Vivi’s friends in my house Saturday night and next week they are going dancing then. SO I have to start preparing my long neglected house for the event and you know that’s important because Prince Charming is coming for the first time.I wish I could put a pic of them together. Ahh they look beautiful….LOL
Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyy at school final exams today and gossip at every corner.A parent came to complain to me for a point in a exam. Great!! And he had an attitude. Everyone is furious because I have to give special privileges to the boy of the teacher that is sueing and he doenst even has a diagnostic of any learning disability.Not fair when I see other who need them more struggling and this boy …..agh! Tomorrow is the English test and I have to give them to my classroom.UMMMM! I know the coordinator is going to be there telling the boy all the test in spanish. Great! He is learning a lot. He is going to have an A and the other who are much better B. Fair very fair.

Mothers , love and cruising

At last I got the chance to this. This week has been a lot of work. Every night I had to do a different final exam.This school year is almost over.Monday and Tuesday, reviews and the rest of the week are the finals. Now I have to take care of finding 2 dresses for Cristian’s graduation and prom and a nice shirt and pants for Cristian. Is not formal is on the school gym. What happened this week?? At school things are the same nothing has changed. The problem continues with no end in sight. I will keep you posted. Remember I told you about Vivi getting invited to this year’s prom? Well she was worried she didn’t know Eduardo enough and she wanted to get to know him better before the prom. She wants him to have a great time as she did a year ago. So Vivi made a group of friends that they both have in common and invited him for an ice cream at Ben’s and Jerry’s. It was a sucess they started talking from the moment he arrived and continue for 2 hours. She told me that she felt very comfortable with him like she knew him for years, they have very much in common. To tell you the truth and not because she is is my daughter but they are both very special.The kind that is difficult to find this days.So whats the problem? You made ask. Now Im a little worried What is she gets to involved with him and he doesn’t love her back? How could she not? He is what she always wanted in a boy and not only that he is handsome. Oh yes, very good looking. She told me that now he compares him with the others and they have nothing to do with him. Another thing he is going to study in the states.In August he is gone. Next week they are going to OSJ to practice some dancing together. She is also going to his graduation. I know, I know is stupid. This is life, but Im a first timer in this matters and every parent doesn’t want their children to suffer. Yes Im a worrier like many of my friends out there. LOL Happy mother’s day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to all my dear friends worriers. On Mother’s day im not going to see mine. No, im not going to be able to go to Mayaguez this weekend.Vivi works until late tonight and my mother prefers that we stay here with my mother in law.Its her first mother day without her daughter and the first for the boys too. My mother is going to be with her mother and although none of us is going to be with her she knows that we are all well and happy. It doesnt matter where we are, she will be happy.What else?? Ahhh! Im the travel agent again and this time I was very succesful. Remember Mara one of the other teachers that went with me to Utah?? On that trip we talked a lot and being me of of our conversations was about cruises. At that time she told me that none of them have ever been on a cruise and that she would love to try one for Spring break next year. Some weeks ago she saw me and reminded me to search for her a cruise that she could go either alone with her husband or the 3 kids.The kids ages range from 9 to 3.So yesterday I put on my travel agent hat and I started my search for ships going out of SJ in April. They are Carnival Victory, Summit, Adventure and Serenade of the Seas and Caribbean Princess. My choices from the start were the Carnival and the Princess and they were also the cheapest. At that particular date there are not the best prices but those 2 were ok. I was only thinking about doubles because I knew that finding a ship that would take 5 in room is very difficult.Only Carnival and ships built from 2000 and back. Thats when I noticed that the Victory entered service in 2000. Bingo!!The internet travel agency gave me a really, really good price for the family of 5 on a balcony!!!! As soon I got to school I went to find my friend and I told her. She was thrilled! She keep asking me what was included in the price.She was surprised and veryyyyy happy. I told her about how good Carnival was for families and the childrens programs and all that.She even gave a hug.I also told her about the island and that I would give her advice on what places the children would love in the island because mine has gone at those ages too and I know what is good to do in each. She was going to tell her husband to book. On Monday she will give me an update. So I think thats all for now. I have to go do some ironing. Its 90 degrees out there and the house is hot like an oven.I have pictures of Vivi with Mr. perfect but im afraid to put them here. Someone could kill me if someone see them.Im going to put one of my mother the only time we have traveled together on a cruise on the Norwegian Majesty.BTW in that particular ship the freestyle thing worked perfectly not so well on the Norwegian Sky that we went with Eugenio’s family but it was ok. Im going to put another of the Norwegian sky with my mother in law and her daughter.

Very busy

Sorry I haven’t writen much in the last few days but I am very busy. After school I have been doing the final exams for my classes and they take time.Im also busy being a taxi for my kids and now i have to think on of getting everything I need in time for Cristian’s graduation.He is on final exams and not doing very well right now in math.Vivi is also on her last days of school and going crazy with all that and work.Im also taking care that she has everything for her “second prom”. Im glad she is using the same dress because that would have been to much.At school same thing.We havent sigh next year contract yet.Elementary school are going to be the last ones.Our principal is thinking what he is going to do with the rotten apples.Ill keep in touch.
